Chrysler has been on the leading edge of design among American manufacturers in recent years and its Sebring shows that. The Sebring was introduced last year with all-new styling inside and out, a stiff new structure, a redesigned suspension, and the availability of a new V6 engine for the LXi model. In addition to the sedan reviewed here, there are coupe and convertible versions available (see nctd.com reviews).
An optional sports suspension is now available for Sebring sedan LXi models.
Model Lineup
Chrysler Sebring sedan is available in two trim levels. There's a choice between a four-cylinder engine and the newly introduced V6. All models come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission.
LX ($17,705) comes with a twin-cam 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 150 horsepower. Chrysler's 2.7-liter V6, which produces 200 horsepower, is available as an option for the LX ($1085). Base Sebring LX trim comes standard with air conditioning and power controls for windows, mirrors and door locks. Steel wheels with 15-inch tires are standard.
The luxurious Sebring LXi ($20,280) comes standard with the V6, 16-inch tires on aluminum alloy wheels, a sportier touring suspension, eight-way power control of the driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a premium sound system with CD player, a trip computer, cruise control, remote illuminated keyless entry, fog lights, bright exhaust tips, along with a higher level of interior convenience features.
Several safety systems are optional gear for both models, such as anti-lock brakes ($565) and side-curtain airbags ($390). An Enthusiast Group ($400) adds Chrysler's Autostick transmission, a sports suspension, firm-feel power steering, and an electroluminescent instrument cluster. A selection of options allows the buyer to add some of the LXi features to the LX model or further enhance the LXi, including a power sunroof ($695).
2002 Chrysler Sebring consumer reviews:

I bought a 2002 Sebring Lxi in 2004, 4 months after I bought it the computer system went out as soon as 50,000 miles rolled around, unfortunately we were 6 hours away from our home in Navarre Beach Fla. and the hurricane was on its way, we had to have the car towed 2 times to get it to a dealership in nearby Ft. Walton and had to rent a car to escape the hurricane and leave the Sebring there for 6 wks for repair.. then I hired a carhauler to bring it 6 hours to my city and drove it 2 miles and it quits again and I have it towed again to a nearby dealership and they have to keep it almost 2 wks, that was 2004. This car has been towed more times than I can count since then, most recently 2009 , Computer goes out AGAIN , water pump fills up the drivetrain with water , shorts out a scensor, burns up the battery and once again 3 tows to the appropriate repair places and voila, get it back in a month !
(Car still shakes, I have tried countless various tires, front end alignments, and 20 different valve stems..that is the story I get anyway)...,I still a bad noise after $615 dollars worth of engine repair to fix all the water damage , then I go to a dealership because I am tired of the repair cost all the time...In the beginning I loved this car from looks to power to the moonroof !! But .....When they check it out to see if I can get a trade in deal ,, he tells me the transmission is about to fall out of the car !!!! I just go ahead and throw in the towel , on great power, road hugging, sporty styling , (everything I love about a car ) and buy a 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA, that I cannot really afford, but 35 mpg and less repair, is what I HAVE to get now.
Owning a CHRYSLER has been nothing but a nightmare,,,stories after stories of breakdowns and tire and wheel problems .
We have owned several Chrysler products, no good
results from any. Dodge Caravan , bought new.. shaking all the time, got rid of it after putting up with it for 10 yrs. bought a Chevy Astro Van - still have it.
Bought a Lebarron new in 1992 , A beautiful Convertible,....then top rips , had to have it replaced , front end problems.. had it a 4 months had to have brand new radiator... was not covered under the warranty..then the transmission goes out , burns up lots of things under the hood, took a while to get all that repaired. months i mean.!...,then we buy our daughter a dodge neon after she wrecks her altima , it rides like a wagon and she still drives it, 136,000 miles on it now , but something is always
wrong with it , right now transmission acts up ,wheels scrub ,,countless trips to tow the thing and repair shops while she goes 4 yrs. of college. She now has a very good job and is looking into buying a Chevrolet..no question ,, she will never get a Chrysler.
