Summary
The GMC Envoy is a good choice among mid-size sport-utilities. GMC's brilliant inline six-cylinder engine gives up nothing to the Ford Explorer. Envoy is well-engineered and enjoyable to drive, stable and responsive and its brakes are very good. The Envoy XL and XUV are ponderous by comparison, lacking the handling and responsiveness of the standard Envoy. The innovative Envoy XUV is an interesting solution for someone who needs to haul messy cargo yet needs comfortable, five-passenger seating.
