2005 Jeep Wrangler Review Summary

Jeep Wrangler is a classic symbol of summer cruising and off-road rambling. Wrangler Rubicon is the ultimate off-road rig, as capable as some modified rock-crawlers but available right off the showroom. Purists might decry the adoption of the Trail's mantel by the stretched Unlimited, even though the long-wheelbase Jeep successfully navigated the Trail before top management signed off.

New Car Test Drive correspondent Tom Lankard filed this report from Chrysler's proving grounds in Michigan; with NCTD editor Mitch McCullough reporting from Southern California.

I've only owned this vehicle for a couple of weeks but it is more than what I anticipated. It is without exception the most fun vehicle I have ever owned.

I bought my first Jeep about a month ago and I absolutely love it! Soft top, hard doors, powerful engine, wheels, power steering, cruise control, comfortable seating & nice body design. I highly recommend this vehicle.

Very nice Jeep; the new model handles good and the 7-speaker sound system is better than I expected. The seating position is excellent. But the only thing I wish I could improve on my Jeep is the fuel economy.

I have the standard SE 2.4L 6 speed model, overall, I am happy with my Jeep. My next Wrangler will definitely be the 4.0L for the extra torque & horsepower. I may lose MPG's fuel wise, but the extra power will be well worth it. Love the soft top & sound bar!! Excellent vehicle in all seasons.
