New-Generation M-Class Sport Utility Uses Electronics for Fun and Safety

MONTVALE, NJ – Mercedes-Benz USA is launching its second-generation M-Class sport utility vehicle with an impressive choice of accessories designed for utility, entertainment, security and customized appearance. Innovative new features include an iPod integration kit, a hands-free cell phone system, a rear-seat entertainment system and a wide array of cargo management accessories. Rounding out the selections are the highly successful Tele Aid security and communications system as well as a full selection of alloy wheels, chrome accents and other appearance items.

All genuine Mercedes-Benz accessories can be installed prior to vehicle delivery and are supported by trained dealership personnel as well as covered by the full factory warranty.

Play Your iPod Tunes

The new iPod integration kit allows users to dock their iPod in the glovebox and play any music selection or existing iTunes playlist through the M-Class audio system. Unlike after-market systems, buttons on the steering wheel or audio unit control iPod music menus and can display playlist and song information through an in-dash display. A hard-wired system, the Mercedes-Benz iPod integration kit provides interference-free listening and charges the iPod unit when docked.

DVDs and Games, Too

The new rear-seat entertainment system includes a state-of-the-art DVD player, two wireless headsets and a seven-inch LCD screen. Rear-seat passengers can watch a DVD movie or listen to music in CD, DVD or MP3 format, and an auxiliary jack allows owner-supplied video games to be played as well.

A New Era of Hands-Free Phones

A hands-free phone system features a multi-handset interface MHI! that accommodates any of several specially designed Motorola cell phones, also allowing customers to upgrade or swap handsets easily. Speed-dial numbers can be accessed and called by using buttons on the steering wheel or the audio system, while names and numbers are displayed in the dash and on the large COMAND screen on the center console. The audio is muted during a call, and conversation is heard through the vehicle’s speakers.

Tele Aid – An Extra Measure of Security

The well-known Tele Aid system automatically alerts emergency personnel about an accident if an air bag or belt tensioner is deployed, saving precious minutes by transmitting information about vehicle type and GPS location as well. The Tele Aid Security & Care package also includes features such as remote door unlock, stolen vehicle recovery, anti-theft alarm notification and one-button access to Mercedes-Benz award-winning roadside assistance.

A Tele Aid Luxury & Convenience upgrade package adds unlimited use of Mercedes-Benz Concierge, a 24/7 personal assistant who can provide “anything, anytime, anywhere” service. The upgrade package also includes personalized route assistance and customized traffic information.
