2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class Review (continued)
Add your own review or comments

Summary

Mercedes calls its R-Class a grand sport tourer. We'd call it a minivan, without a hint of disparagement. The R-Class is stylish and luxurious, with plenty of function. In seats six adults more comfortably than almost any vehicle on the market, with plenty of entertainment options for those inside, and it easily converts to carry a lot of stuff rather than people. It's more satisfying to drive than most other minivans, and it can accelerate faster than some luxury sedans. All-wheel drive makes it great for the wintry conditions, and it will easily fit in most garages.

NewCarTestDrive.com correspondent Jim McCraw filed this report from California; with Jeff Vettraino reporting from Detroit.

Awesome handling, fun to drive. Lines are exotic. Love the shift and paddle shifter. A bit more standard features would be great including better DVD player module and more horsepower.

Our R-Class has plenty of options and it will take some time to learn, but it hasn't been too hard so far. This vehicle rided very smooth with power when it's needed. It handles well and for the size of vehicle, the MPG is pretty good. Seats are very comfortable too (especially the 2nd row seats).

The comfort and drive of the R- Class has been great. Especially highway driving. Enjoy the cruise controls. Fuel mileage is good too. Comfort with four adults and two children. Very quiet engine but powerful. Would like to see easier to read clock. Move transmission controls from behind steering wheel.
