Overview

The 2008 Nissan Armada demonstrates that you need not have an all-new vehicle to make it feel like one. With familiar bodywork and a proven engine and chassis it might come across as merely a minor restyle, but with an essentially new interior and a lot of fine-tuning behind the scenes, it's a major advancement.

While fuel prices and environmental concerns have tempered the full-size SUV market, there remains a need for seven-or-eight seat vehicles with room for some cargo that have the ability to tow sizable trailers, reach remote destinations, or both, and that's what the Armada is for. Armada is rated to tow a 9,000-pound trailer.

The Armada is spacious enough to seat adults in the third row and with up to five individually folding seats allows a variety of configurations balancing people and package needs.

It possess a competitive, healthy V8 engine and five-speed automatic designed for serious work yet tamed to smoothness and background hum, and independent suspension all 'round capable of delivering a good ride, accurate response, and durability off the highway. This is genuine 4WD in the vein of Land Cruisers and Monteros, not merely an all-wheel-drive system for inclement weather. Yet you can drive it in urban settings without feeling you're piloting the QE2 down the Potomac.

Armada offers a host of goodies to keep everyone happy, including three air-conditioning zones and an audio system that can play two sources through speakers and headphones.

This is a good vehicle if you need it. If you don't tow much or need the larger third-row seats, there are alternatives. With a set of four winter tires and 4WD, an Armada can go places that you never expected. Drive it and you'll discover a level of quiet strength and refinement you haven't experienced in a Nissan truck, and see what we mean when a model year refresh can be better than new.

Model Lineup

The 2008 Nissan Armada is offered in two- and four-wheel-drive versions of standard SE and upscale LE trim, all available with flex-fuel capability.

The SE comes standard with cloth upholstery dual-zone climate control and rear air conditioning, four-way power seats, power adjustable pedals, rear proximity sensors, and a 60/40 split folding third row seat.

LE adds leather upholstery, heated eight-way power seats, power liftgate, upgraded audio, a navigation system with real-time traffic reporting, and a heated steering wheel. Many features standard on the LE are available on SE as options.

Options include a moonroof, DVD entertainment system, and middle-row captain's chairs. A tow package includes hitch, wiring, 3.36:1 axle ratio, heavy-duty battery, and self-leveling rear suspension.

Safety features that come standard include three-row curtain airbags, the mandated frontal airbags, active front head restraints, rear proximity sensors. Active safety features include electronic stability control, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist. Optional safety features include front side airbags, front proximity sensors, and rearview monitor.

Just picked up my loaded 08 Armada in smoke color and we love it. I have all the bells and whistles and it all comes together really nicely. Nav works great. 'Heated steering wheel' is what I liked most on this truck. Recommended for everyone.

We love the truck so far, the navigation works great as does the vehicle's voice command. Wish the sound system had an integrated iPod adapter but I can live with this. Drive is smooth and quiet and the handling is super. Exterior looks hot with the 20" wheels and the new interior is far superior to the prior years.

Besides fuel economy, it is a really nice ride. Lots of room and extras. I just love the front/back sonar and the backup camera. The automatic lifting gate is a really nice touch too. This vehicle looks very professional inside and out. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Loved our Armada. The ride is fantastic and fit and finish is far above all American competitors. Turning radius is great too. 7 inch LCD in dashboard is very functional and nice looking. 2nd row leg room and comfort is superb in Armada. I plan on having this vehicle for a long time.

We love our new Armada!! We have only had it a few days but so far it is the most smooth, comfortable ride. It is so roomy and comfortable to ride in and to drive. It doesn't have the best gas mileage but luckily I work very close to home and all the room makes up for it. Bells and whistles galore plus it looks great!
