Russian App Outs Bad Parkers

t's one thing to shame a careless parker with a note or a post a picture of the fail on your personal social media account, but it's quite another to out them in front of a wider audience. In Russia, you can do just that, thanks to a smartphone app.

If you park in a rude manner in Russia, it might go viral.

The Android app, which bears the slightly vulgar Douche Parking name, intends to shame bad parkers online. It works like so: a passerby snaps a photo and uploads it to the app, the photo's location is matched with an IP address, and live banner ads show the infraction to folks who are online nearby. Also, the ads make their way to The Village¸ an online newspaper in Moscow, and of course, folks can share via social media.

We're not sure about the wisdom of shaming poor parkers online, but if it makes the suburban jungle somewhat more civilized, then we're all for it.
