Exploding Parking Meter Injures Man

Police suspect that the explosion was caused by "an act of vandalism gone awry."

Seattle man was injured over the weekend when he walked past a parking pay station and the pay box exploded.

The man was walking with a friend through Seattle's Ballard neighborhood after midnight on Saturday when he and his friend heard an explosion. The man was struck in the arm by debris and began bleeding.

We don't like parking meters either, but blowing them up seems more than a little extreme.Police say the man's injuries aren't life threatening, and they also say that the meter box was heavily damaged. They suspect that the explosion was caused by "an act of vandalism gone awry."
