olkswagen has confirmed that a 2013 Beetle convertible will be unveiled at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Autoblog is saying that consumers should expect the 2013 Beetle drop-top to look a lot like the E-Bugster concept, minus some of the more aggressive styling elements. The site is also reporting that there will be "period correct" interior pieces to give the car a retro feel.

There won't be an electric motor, but consumers will have two gas engines to choose from: a 2.5-liter inline-five and a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, along with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel.

We can’t say we’re surprised that the automaker will be bringing a convertible Beetle to market, nor can we say we're surprised that it will be unveiled in sunny Southern California. We do think EV enthusiasts may be disappointed by the lack of an electric motor option, though.
