Automaker announces new models and designs

The next year should be really exciting for Korean automaker Kia, and they are bringing new hip styling and engine technology into its new lineup. The redesigned Kia Rio subcompact that first made its presence at the New York Auto Show in April will finally hit dealer lots this fall. The brand new Cadenza, a larger and more refined sedan, will be on the road next spring.



Next summer, an upgraded and redesigned Kia Forte sedan will also hit dealer lots, while brand new redesigned Sorento and Sedona models should be ready for sales in 2014.

Here is a more detailed look at what is coming from fast-growing Kia.

2012 Kia Soul

A new 2012 Kia Soul will be redesigned, including a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder direct injection engine that will improve fuel efficiency. Also, the Soul's body will have a fresh new design, including a new front fascia, updated headlights and hood, and new taillights with vertical display.

2012 Kia Rio

A brand new redesign of the Rio will improve fuel efficiency, and may average an estimated 40mpg highway. The 2012 Soul will also be powered with the more efficient 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, and it will include start-stop technology.

2013 Kia Cadenza

Kia's larger front-wheel drive sedan should arrive to U.S. markets in spring 2013. As Kia;s coming flagship model, the Cadenza will out-refine and outpace the Optima. The Cadenza is expected to be equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 direct injection engine from Kia-Hyundai's Lambda class.

 

2012 Kia Forte

Expect the Forte compact to be redesigned by next summer, and includes upgrades in exterior styling and interior technology. Just like the Elantra, the Forte will be equipped with the 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, and will give drivers an option between the new six-speed manual or auto transmission.

2011 Kia Optima

Kia's midsize sedan, the Optima, was redesigned last year for 2011 model release. Expect a new look, and possibly new engine technology, by 2013.

2012 Kia Sorento

Top Kia Model, the Sorento was redesigned for this year. For 2012 models, the Sorento will get an upgraded base engine from the old, and will be equipped with a 2.4-liter direct injection 4-cylinder engine that will boost power to 191 horses--about 10 percent more powerful than this years model.

2011 Kia Sedona

A redesigned Kia Sedona minivan is expected for 2013 models.

2011 Kia Sportage

Kia Sportage

The compact-crossover was redesigned for release this year. A refreshening is expected for a 2013 re-release.
