Ford will produce a special, limited-edition version of the raucous all-wheel-drive Focus RS for the 2018 model year. Ford said that Ford Performance fans’ discussions online led to a special 1,500 unit run of the limited-edition vehicle that will celebrate the end of this generation RS.
The car will be available in Race Red or signature Nitrous Blue paint jobs and will feature gloss black side mirror caps, roof, and rear roof spoiler. On the side wings of the car’s spoiler, Ford placed the RS logo. Other upgrades include 19-inch painted forged alloy wheels with special center caps that also feature the RS logo.
On the inside of the vehicle, Ford placed carbon fiber on the door handles, handbrake lever, and turbo boost gauge. Additional standard interior features include heated eight-way power adjustable black leather-trimmed RECARO seats, heated steering wheel, heated exterior mirrors, and voice activated navigation. These were features that used to be optional equipment.
Gearheads will be pleased to learn that Ford didn’t just do cosmetic changes to the limited-edition RS. The model also gets a mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential for the front axle. This lets the car carry more speed through corners and accelerate harder out of turns.
Other than that, the car is the same. It features the amazing all-wheel drive system, the 350 hp 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and all the drive modes. Only 1,000 of the 1,500 cars produced will be available in the United States. The other 500 will go to Canada. The cars will be delivered near the end of 2017. If you really want an RS, this may be your last chance and you better act fast.
