o one disputes that it's dangerous for motorists to ignore ambulances—both because it could delay the ambulance's life-saving mission or lead to a collision—but apparently, too many drivers in the Denver area aren't heeding the EMT's siren. Denver Health is doing something about it by installing subwoofers.

Denver Health has tested the subwoofers for 18 months and is ready to approve them for all new vehicles as standard issue.

The 100/200-watt subwoofers are aimed at the ground, and they cause everything outside the ambulance to vibrate, thanks to a low frequency.

We realize that with the rise in smartphone use, distracted driving has probably fueled the problem, but we've seen plenty of drivers who weren't on their phones ignore ambulances, too. Maybe this will finally get their attention.
