Daewoo is a South Korean automaker founded in 1937 as National Motor before joining with Toyota and becoming Shinjin Motor. Shinjin joined with General Motors in 1972 and the name was again changed to Saehan Motor. Saehan was purchased by the Daewoo Group in 1982 and the company became Daewoo Motor. Daewoo ran into financial trouble in 1999 and all of its assets were sold to General Motors. In 2004 Daewoo was bought by India's Tata Motors.
