Land Rover is the second oldest four-wheel-drive car brand in the world, second to Jeep. Launched in 1948, Land Rover was modeled after its American predecessor, Jeep, which became a ubiquitous presence in the UK during WWII. It has since grown to produce such four-wheel-drive models the Defender, Discovery, Range Rover and Freelander. In 2000 Land Rover was sold to Ford Motor Company.
