t's one of the most popular games on the market, loved by kids and adults alike, but will it do well on television? Angry Birds is about to get the animated treatment, with 52 episodes of a cartoon being introduced starting next fall.

Nick Dorra, the head of animation at game producer Rovio, said that each episode will be two-and-a-half to three minutes long, and that they will broadcast to as many devices as possible.

The animated series is about "telling more engaging stories, and deeper thoughs, deeper feelings of the characters, such as, why are they always angry?" Nick Dorra

"We want to be present on all possible screens," he said. And as for a feature film, he hasn't ruled that out either.

"It's in development, but it won't be out in 2013 or 2014."

Last year, Rovio hired former Marvel chairman David Maisel as a special adviser to help build a business strategy for marketing the game and turning it to new forms of entertainment–like this show.

The animated series, says Dorra, is about "telling more engaging stories...and deeper thoughts, deeper feelings of the characters, such as, why are they always angry?"

Why are they angry? We'd have to hedge a bet that it's because those pesky pigs keep trying to steal their eggs!
