Denny's Unveils "Hobbit" Themed Menu

Because nothing says "delicious diner food" like "hairy elves."

Denny's is unleashing a special "Hobbit"-themed menu through mid-January 2013.

I

f you're a fan of Middle Earth who also likes to eat in the middle of the night (or middle of the morning, or middle of the afternoon, you get it), you'll have to check out Denny's' new Hobbit-themed menu items, which are available now through mid-January 2013.

Now, the diner is already known for having rich, indulgent foods, but the new menu doesn't so much have a Hobbit theme as it does have Hobbit-themed names. Pumpkin Patch Pancakes seem more seasonal than Elvish, but they'll probably have some people over the moon(s Over Myhammy? Okay, nope. Sorry. Tried to make a Denny's joke and failed. Moving on!).

Other menu items include a "Hobbit Hole Breakfast," which is a take on eggs in a hole, except instead of plain bread and fried eggs, it's a cheddar bun and fried eggs.  Sounds good, but we're not sure how The Hobbit ties into the meal. That seems to be the theme for most of the dishes, too—the Shire Sausage Skillet is just sausage with red potatoes and sauteed peppers, mushrooms, and onions, topped with two eggs and cheddar cheese. Not very Middle-Earth-like to us.

toast The "Lonely Mountain Treasure."

Also on the limited-time menu is Frodo's Pot Roast Skillet, which is like the sausage skillet, except with pot roast, broccoli, and bread—no eggs.

Another aptly named meal on the menu is the Ring Burger. This one is a burger topped with three onion rings on top of the bun. Kind of simple, but alright. Gandalf's Gobble Melt is a turkey melt with cranberry honey mustard spread, and the Dwarves' Turkey & Dressing Dinner is basically exactly what it sounds like.

Of the more interesting items are Radagast's Red Velvet Pancake Puppies, which are basically hush puppy-looking treats except  red-velvet-flavored, and Lonely Mountain Treasure, which is "seed cake French  toast" cut into cubes and served with cream cheese icing. Also on the dessert part of the menu are Bilbo's Berry Smoothie and Lone-Lands Campfire Cookie Milkshake.

Eat up!
