Glasses on your iPad.I
n a sea of aluminum, white, and black, it can be hard to tell your Apple laptop from the next one. But thanks to MacStickrs, now you can discreetly give your device a little personality without detracting from its sleek design.
Currently, the company offers several different stickers of mustache styles and glasses, although those are the only two accessories they offer. They also offer bundles of stickers, which include talk bubbles that describe what the "character" is—for example, one talk bubble reads, "Bad Mother F*cker."
The company has so far shipped over 600 stickers to customers around the world, and since the stickers are removable, it doesn't matter if it's crooked the first time you stick it on. All you have to do to remedy that is peel it off and restick it.
MacStickrs. The company is based out of a Loughborough University dorm room in the U.K., but they ship internationally. It's run by two men, Aleksandr Karev and Jaroslav Urban, and a cat, named Felix.
While we think the concept is unique, it would be nice to see a bit more variation in what they offer in terms of accessories. Things like headphones or earrings, or perhaps an expressive mouth would be fun, or even custom orders, like if someone wanted their Apple to have an interesting hairstyle like a mohawk. Right now, it seems as if the stickers are geared only toward men (only chunky, thick-framed glasses are offered, which are more standard fare for men than women, or at least they used to be), and unless a woman is very brave, she isn't sporting a mustache on her face, so it makes no sense for her to sport one on her laptop or iPad.
That said, if you're looking for a quirky way to spice up your tech toys without adding too much gaudiness, MacStickrs might be right for you.
