Actor Playing Judas Accidentally Hangs Self

n actor portraying Judas during a Good Friday Passion play in Itarare, Brazil accidentally killed himself during the scene in which Judas takes his own life.

Four minutes passed before any of his fellow actors realized something was wrong with Tiago Klimeck, who was rushed to the hospital where he died the following day.

Police in Itarare believe that the apparatus meant to support the actor during the scene was not secured properly.

This on-stage death joins the surprisingly long list of other tragic mid-performance deaths. Magician Chung Ling Soo famously died performing a trick where he appeared to catch a bullet; actor Tyorne Power suffered a heart attack while filming; Les Harvey, guitarist for Stone The Crows, was electrocuted on stage; Vic Morrow was killed during the filming of the Twilight Zone movie; Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, was accidentally killed by a prop gun; actor John Ritter died while filming an episode of 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter; and most recently Dimebag Darrell Abbott, ex-guitarist for Pantera, was shot to death during a concert in Columbus, Ohio.

And coincidentally, Klimeck is not the first actor to die while portraying Judas. In Rome in 2000, Renato De Paolo accidentally hanged himself during the same scene
