ith his last record, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West directed a 35-minute short film titled "Runaway," after one of the tracks on the album. Now, the Grammy-nominated rapper has set his sights on the Middle East and is in talks with three different locales to film his next video there.
West is looking at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha, Qatar as the setting for his next video.
Currently, West is looking at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha, Qatar as setting for his next film, which would be similar to "Runaway" in its grandiosity.
So why the Middle East? West is said to have chosen to Persian Gulf, which is a great departure from the location of his last video, because he fell in love with it while visiting last year, and wants to take the opportunity to produce something great far away from home.
But let's be honest: why else would West do anything that would generate a news story? Attention? No, of course not. We're talking about a guy who didn't interrupt the VMA's to protest Taylor Swift winning an award, who didn't rant on Twitter for hours about his upcoming project, and who hasn't launched public feuds against ex-girlfriends.
What's that? Oh, he did do all of those things? Oh. Right. Nevermind, then.
West is no stranger to attention-grabbing stunts; his latest musical effort was a collaboration with rap superstar Jay-Z—the album Watch the Throne, which sold 436,000 copies in its first week alone.
