hen thinking of artists who are most likely to work with cosmetics companies, we have to admit Prince isn't too far down on our list. So it's interesting that he's being sued for not fulfilling his end of a contract with Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics, to the tune of $3.95 million.
The lawsuit was initiated in 2008, after Revelations spent millions of dollars on a perfume line inspired by Prince's 2006 album 3121. Prince was then supposed to hawk the fragrances via media interviews and in-store appearances, but records show that Prince never did any of that.
"Since July 2007, despite repeated attempts by Revelations, there have been virtually no communications from anyone who could commit to or coordinate any promotional efforts by Prince," the lawsuit reads.
Prince claims that he told the company in December 2006 that he didn't intend on doing interviews to promote the scents, but the company says they were misled, claiming Prince said he'd appear on Oprah Winfrey's show. Additionally, there were claims that Prince would hand out perfume samples at his concerts, but that never happened either.
Prince will have to fork over almost four million dollars, but thankfully, the judge found no evidence of "malicious intent," which could have cost Prince even more.
