P

hysicists the world over stand poised yet anxious for an announcement that the Higgs boson "God Particle" has been discovered at long last.

Named for Peter Higgs, a physicist and retired professor from University of Edinburgh. In 1964, Higgs postulated that the "God Particle," or sub-atomic article gives the particles that make up atoms their mass. Scientists have since considered it the missing key to understanding the universe.

The management at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland is now "99.99995 certain" it has discovered the particle which has eluded physicists for the past 48 years. The existence of the Higgs bosom "God Particle" can finally answer the question baffling scientists for nearly five decades: why does matter have mass?

Two research teams, running separate experiments, in the US and Europe, have discovered the existence of the particle but will yield to CERN which plans to announce the discovery.

Naturally, the hullabaloo in the science world over this monolithic find is so far reaching that CERN has invited five of the leading minds in physics (including Higgs) to Geneva this week for a press conference.
