With law enforcement beefing up a major tool in its arsenal, we might finally start driving slower.
A
n Australian man who fought a reckless driving charge lost his battle thanks to speed cameras that can pick individual cars out of a group.
Unlike the slant beams used in older speed cameras, these cameras use laser to identify cars in individual lanes as they pass by.
Speed cameras can now pick out individual cars. When a photo is snapped, a box is drawn around the offending car.
Obviously this means that speeders will no longer be able to hide in a crowd and use that as their defense in court. While don't like to see law-breakers getting off scot-free, we're also not fans of speed cameras, and this tech gives the diabolical devices one more advantage.
