The Jaguar F-PACE is the British automaker’s attempt to increase the number of models it sells worldwide. Crossover SUVs are hot right now and likely will be in the future. The F-PACE should fit right in with the popular vehicles in this segment. Still, that doesn’t mean Jag’s new CUV will have an easy time of it. There’s some seriously tough competition out there.

One of its chief competitors comes from Porsche. The Macan is a sporty crossover SUV that encapsulates everything its bigger brother Cayenne is but in a more compact package. The vehicle has been out longer than the F-PACE and has garnered significant respect among buyers of all stripes. Putting these two next to each other should make for an interesting comparison.

F-PACE

The F-PACE is Jaguar’s first foray into the crossover SUV fray. The automaker wants to sell more vehicles, and this is an excellent way to do that. TJaguar executed the F-PACE excellently. The vehicle is quick, has an interior worthy of the Jaguar name, and an exterior that brings Jaguar’s latest exterior styling elements to a crossover SUV. It’s obviously a Jaguar, and that’s a very good thing.

The F-PACE comes in a variety of trim levels, including the base vehicle, Premium, Prestige, R-Sport, and S. As you might imagine the R-Sport and S trim levels up the sporty drive ante a bit as well as improving the level of high-class materials and amenities. There are a number of engines to choose from, including the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the base model, the 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder, the 3.0-liter V6, and the 3.0-liter supercharged V6. The ability to choose between so many trim levels and engine options means you can get the F-PACE exactly how you want it.

Porsche Macan

porsche macan

The Porsche Macan has been around longer than the F-PACE, but it’s certainly not an old-timer. The model made its debut in 2014. Porsche has been making SUVs for many years with the Cayenne, and the company definitely knows what it’s doing with the Macan. The vehicle’s sleek exterior, upscale interior, and punchy engine options make the Macan one of the best crossovers out there. Still, the folks over at Porsche have to consider the F-PACE a serious competitor because Jaguar pulled out all the stops when making the vehicle.

The Macan comes in five trim levels if you count the turbo models: the base Macan, S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo with Performance Package. Engine options include a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter V6, an up-tuned version of the 3.0-liter V6, and a 3.6-liter turbocharged V6. Similar to the Jaguar F-PACE, there’s plenty of ways to personalize your Macan, due to the large number of trim levels, engine options, and available packages.
