Fewer than three percent of cars in 2016 were sold with manual transmissions in the U.S., according to data from Edmunds. That number continues to drop. As it does, fewer and fewer automakers even offer cars with three pedals and a stick in America. If you love to rope your own gears, your options are dwindling.
The story is different outside the U.S., but even so, it’s safe to say that the manual transmission’s days are numbered. Automatics are now faster and more fuel efficient in many cases, eliminating some of the pros of the stick. Still, the manual gearbox offers a true driving experience, a fact that fewer and fewer people seem to care about.
Last year we put together a list of all the 2017 cars with a manual transmission that you could buy. This year, there have been some changes, but as you can see from the list below, there are still a fair number of vehicles at a variety of price points. This means if you prefer a car with a proper, manual gearbox you’re in luck no matter how much money you have in the bank.
There are fewer models that come with a manual this year, but that doesn't mean you can't get a good vehicle to shift yourself. Here are all the cars with a manual for the 2018 model year:
