Cruise control can really take a lot of stress out of driving, but adaptive cruise control takes things a step further. It turns that long and arduous interstate trip into an unfettered pleasure cruise. The thing is, though, that many automakers make you pay extra for this fantastic feature.
While it’s making its way into more vehicles as standard equipment, right now it’s more often not found on that standard equipment list. This means you have to add it as an option, jump up a few trim levels, or go with a different vehicle altogether. Luckily, there are some cars out there that offer adaptive cruise control as standard equipment. Here are five of the best ones.
2018 Honda Accord
Honda’s redesigned Accord for 2018 is the best the model’s ever been. It sits lower, drives better, looks great, and offers a quality cabin with plenty of room. You have an option of two different gas engines – we love the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder – and there’s a hybrid car to satisfy the environmentally conscious. Among the car’s long list of standard features is Honda Sensing which includes adaptive cruise control as well as several other safety features.
In addition to the Honda Sensing safety suite of technology, Accord comes standard with dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic high-beams, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and push-button start.
2018 Toyota Camry
The 2018 Toyota Camry will always do battle with the Honda Accord. It, too, was redesigned for 2018 and offers a sportier appearance and drive, and your choice between a four-cylinder engine or a 3.5-liter V6. The Accord dropped its V6 in favor of a turbocharged four-cylinder. The V6 may be optional but Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and that means the car comes with adaptive cruise control no matter what trim level or engine you choose.
In addition to the cruise control feature, the model comes with a 7-inch Entune infotainment system, Sirius XM radio, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, connected navigation, USB ports, Siri Eyes Free technology, Entune app suite, and a 4.2-inch multi-information display.
2018 Genesis G80
The Genesis G80 offers a refined and luxurious package at a fraction of the price that other premium automakers charge for similar sedans. There are three different engines, including a V8 option and a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 in the G80 Sport. In addition to the car’s prowess in the power department and good handling capabilities, the model comes with a longer list of standard equipment than several of its competitors. This is a list that includes adaptive cruise control.
Standard features include a 8-inch infotainment system with navigation, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, proximity key with push-button start, Genesis Connected Services telematics System,
2018 Toyota RAV4
The Toyota RAV4 is a smart choice for just about any buyer who doesn’t want a sedan. It offers a higher ride height, more capability, generously spaced cabin and cargo area, and good performance. There’s even a hybrid model that offers superb efficiency and more horsepower. It also has a long list of standard features which includes Toyota Safety Sense that has adaptive cruise control among its listed features.
In addition to the adaptive cruise control, the RAV4 comes standard with a 6.1-inch Entune infotainment system, USB ports, Sirius XM radio, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, push-button start, keyless entry, hill-start assist control, and a 4.2-inch multi-information display.
2018 Lexus RX 350
Lexus’s RX crossover is one of the most comfortable and easy to live with models out there. The RX 350, the model line’s base offering, starts things off nicely with a competent 3.5-liter V6, front or all-wheel drive and a long list of standard features, including adaptive cruise control. The rest of the model’s lineup, namely the RX450h and the F
In addition to the adaptive cruise control feature, the Lexus RX 350 comes with plenty of additional equipment. This includes LED headlights, power liftgate, keyless ignition and entry, an 8-inch Enform infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning with automatic braking.
