The Porsche Boxster S is an excellent choice for anyone who values precision in a drop-top sports car. It has been that way since the model’s introduction in 1996. It’s also the cheapest convertible that Porsche sells. While a new 718 Boxster will set you back at least $57,400, you can pick up used versions of the car for a small fraction of the price. That means anyone looking for something better than a budget roadster like a Mazda Miata should consider a used Porsche Boxster. If you look hard enough you’ll find that there’s a Boxster out there at just about every price point.
The model that we’ve found is a well-kept 2002 Boxster S that comes with the venerable 3.2-liter flat six-cylinder engine. This model year of the Boxster S made 250 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. Pair that with a well-balanced mid-engine design and superb steering and handling, and you have one of the best sports cars you can easily buy. The model shown in the pictures has a six-speed manual transmission, beautiful black interior, and a shiny black exterior.
