There are a lot of things in life we don't understand. Electric cars isn't one of them, but apparently the concept remains elusive for these two women driving a Tesla Model 3. It's not the first viral video that shows a Tesla driver trying to fill up the car with gasoline (really), but it still amazes us. The two women were captured on a smartphone by another customer (who likely had a car that actually required gasoline). Too bad nobody remembers to record in landscape mode, eh? Anyway, what you see could be staged, but it's hard to tell.
The women are already parked when the man starts recording. The driver and passenger open the Model 3's frunk and stare at it briefly. Here's the part I don't get (at least one of the parts). Why on earth would they go to the trunk to fill up if they thought the car took gas? Shouldn't they go to the back? Also, why does the driver grab the pump nozzle without inserting a credit card? Almost no gas station lets you just pump and pay in cash without pressing some kind of button. She doesn't do that at all.
Various customers stare at them likely trying to figure out what they're doing at a gas station with a Tesla. Maybe they're just staring at young, attractive women. We think it's the former and not the latter. The videographer can't take it anymore and talks to them to explain the problem. He shows them the charging port, and explains that it's electric only. Then the ladies go on to insist it takes gas. Seriously, nobody can be this dumb, but we've been wrong before.
Watch the video again and scratch your head. It could be real, but we don't think it is. We think they're trying to go viral, and it actually worked.
