RAM has a knack for making loud pickups, both in terms of styling and performance. The new RAM Stinger Yellow 1500 Sport certainly fits into this category. It’s big, yellow, powerful and sports some obnoxious decals. While this truck certainly isn’t for everyone, we love to see RAM making trucks that align with its heritage while still looking forward.
The Stinger Yellow 1500 Sport is an homage to the Dodge Rumble Bee Concept truck that strutted its stuff at the 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise. The new Stinger Yellow 1500 Sport wears a similar yellow suit but isn’t quite up to the Rumble Bee’s status (probably why RAM came up with the Rumble Bee-related name Stinger Yellow). Instead of a black swoosh down the side of the truck like the Rumble Bee had, the Stinger Yellow has a couple of hood stripes that look like they belong on a Dodge Charger or Challenger. While the truck is no muscle car, it does have a big V8 under the hood because if you’re going to have a yellow truck, it basically has to.
Here are the highlights:
- Engine: 5.7-liter HEMI V8 good for 395 horsepower
- Transmission: 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic
- Notable Equipment: Silver painted alloy wheels (22-inch for 2WD and 20-inch for 4WD), black with yellow accented interior, dual chrome exhaust tips, vented
sporthood, interior dark chromeand yellow accents, body-colored stitching, UConnect with navigation and rear view camera.
- Price: $44,340
RAM only plans to make 2,250 of these yellow behemoths. That isn’t very many of the limited edition pickup, but with a price tag that high for what is essentially a big yellow truck, we don’t know that they’ll sell very many of them to begin with. Still, we know there are some truck enthusiasts out there who are probably jumping at the opportunity. At least the owners will have no problem finding their trucks in a crowded lot.
