Audi’s Q8 Sport Concept made its debut earlier this week at the Geneva Motor Show. While there were plenty of novel vehicles at the show, Audi’s Q8 was probably one of our favorites. The reason? It’s supposed to make a crazy amount of power from its hybrid supercharged 3.0-liter V6. That, and it’s swathed in very cool tangerine paint.

The reason the company can get so much out of the supercharged mill is the special electric supercharger. Whereas many supercharging units function by use of a belt-drive, Audi’s uses electrification. Audi used this type of supercharger before (the SQ7 TDI) but never with a hybrid powertrain.

Here are the details for the Q8 Sport Concept:

  • The 3.0-liter supercharged V6 paired with an electric motor makes 476 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
  • The vehicle can travel at low speeds and park without using a single drop of gasoline.
  • Audi reports a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds.
  • The vehicle posts a reported 745-mile total range from a 22.5-gallon fuel tank.

Aside from the impressive performance numbers, the Q8 Sport Concept just looks good. It appears very refined inside and out and has a kind of coupe-SUV roofline. Having said that, rear seat headroom and cargo space likely suffer due to the vehicle’s roof shape.

There’s no word yet if Audi will bring this particular version of the Q8 to production, but the company will eventually roll some type of Q8 off the assembly line. We’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Q8 no matter what kind or how many versions of it Audi produces.
