The automotive startup we all have been waiting to get started has made some surprising and impressive strides recently. Lucid has managed to get their Air prototype to reach 235 mph while on the TRC’s banked oval track. That’s surely something that can potentially take the attention away from Tesla for a moment.
The impressive high-speed reached by the Air Alpha prototype EV was done thanks to a revised programming of the air suspension and motor cooling systems. The development car was originally software-limited to reaching 217 mph a few months ago, but a test driver beat that limit into the ground.
While the car can reach that speed in certain conditions, the Alpha Speed Car is not the final production top speed for Lucid Air. At the moment, it only proves that Lucid can provide top quality, incredible
In their undying attempts at getting investors, this high-speed run will definitely draw the attention of some. Lucid Motors will need significant fundraising, as it will require at least $240 million to get a low-volume production factory up and running with an output of around 10,000 vehicles a year. They hope to begin the production process next year, with prices starting out around $60,000.
Take a look at the riveting video of the Lucid Air nailing the nutty speeds below.
