With all the drama surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding, the royal family's cars take a back seat, until now. Turns out Prince Harry is selling his super fast and slickly outfitted A6 sedan-based Audi RS6 Avant (wagon). The car actually had a role in their relationship with Harry, having picked up Ms. Markle from the airport en route to big brother Prince William's wedding. Now, the car is up for sale on British Auto Trader, but we can't figure out why he'd part with such a gem of a car.
The fact that Harry would opt for a German brand is a bit of a surprise but not when you look at its understated character, just right for clandestine runs. It's also one of the fastest (if not THE fastest) station wagons on the planet. The fact that you can't buy one here in the States means it's that much more of a coveted vehicle that you'd be lucky to get your hands on. He could've picked a Jaguar F-Type or an Aston Martin Vanquish, but those are way too noticeable for a royal who needs to stay out of the limelight for some semblance of a private life.
The RS6 Avant can boast thanks to a 552 hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that powers all four wheels. The Avant he owns also has the performance-boosting Dynamic Package, which bumps up the top speed from 155 to 174 mph. There's no proof that he actually did those kinds of speeds, but we'd like to think he tried. There's also the all-important privacy glass installed on the vehicle, almost more important than the car's sub-4 second 0-60 time.
What's more, the car has only 4,464 miles on the odometer, which means it's nearly new. It makes the $95,000 asking price seem downright affordable. Consider the fact that can give the Porsche 911 Carrera a run for its money, as well as carry more passengers, more cargo, and it can provide four-season traction all day long.
Again, we're not quite sure why Harry's parting with this monstrous wagon. If he's starting a family with Ms. Markle, we'd be hard pressed to find a better daddy-mobile than this potent Audi. But whoever ends up with the car will be happy to know that it played a part in a royal marriage as he/she tears away from a stoplight with a big fat grin.
