Along with the radical SC18 Alston we showed you just the other day, the Squadra Corse division at Lamborghini also unveiled another vehicle at the Vallelunga circuit where the 2019 Lamborghini World Finals are being held. But it wasn't a supercar. It's a crossover known as the Urus ST-X concept. Rather than a one-off like the Alston, the new Urus ST-X concept is an FIA-approved race series in Europe and the Middle East in 2020.

The ST-X, or super Trofeo X (Trofeo means "trophy" in Italian) takes the Urus super-crossover and makes it race-ready by cutting weight and adding racing components. There's a roll-cage, fire suppression system, FT3 FIA approved fuel tank, rear wing, center lock wheels, and quick release latches on the hood that houses the Urus' potent 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque

Lamborghini doesn't quite have the longstanding and illustrious racing history that Ferrari does, but it has supported racing series since the1996 Diablo SV-R supercar hit the scene with its 540 hp V12. In the case of the ST-X, the race will combine track and off-road surfaces, so the use of the Urus makes sense with its higher ground clearance.

More exotic car brands are giving owners the opportunity to buy a car that's race-ready and can enter a branded race series. It's an exciting offering that lets owners exploit their cars' capabilities, as well as partake in an exclusive event. Lambo will show off the Urus ST-X on the track during the 2019 Lamborghini World Finals for all the world to witness. We're excited to see a new racing crossover enter the fray.
