MIB has come a long way. J and K are nowhere to be found, as far as we know, and it looks like global aliens are a problem now. In come new agents H (Chris Hemsworth) and M (Tessa Thompson) who don't seem like they'd want to be caught dead in the original movie's 1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. They need something a bit more cosmopolitan, like a very black, very fast Lexus RC F.
Sure, the upcoming movie focuses on the adventures of the Men In Black organization, a continuation of the first three movies that bowed in 1997, 2002, and 2012. The franchise now goes global, and the baddies are getting badder, while the ride is cooler than ever. The RC F that has some options not available to the public (like jet engines), but the stock RC F is pretty damned great all by itself. We've driven it and can easily say it's a grand tourer that's worthy of respect.
The RC F has been mildly updated inside and out since its debut in 2014 as a 2015 model. The fascia and tail have been smoothed out a little but still retain that edginess the car is known for. Offset stacked quad stacked tailpipes give the back end a unique look specific to "F" cars from the brand, and then there's that rich growl from the naturally-aspirated V8. Talk about nabbing aliens in style. Oh, and you can't buy one with a trunk full of laser cannons, in case you were wondering.
According to Lexus: To outfit a Men in Black agent, you need the best of everything, including the best car. The spot showcases the RC F in a sequence matching the “white room” from the film where Tessa Thompson’s character is outfitted with her signature Men in Black suit, tie and shades, combined with footage from the film itself. According to the voiceover, “When you’re protecting the earth from the scum of the universe, a little extra horsepower never hurts.”
The :30 TV spot will hit TVs and the web everywhere on Thursday, May 23. The movie debuts in theaters on June 14th. Try to keep your eye on the characters and the plot, but it'll be tough with the RC F trying to steal the show.
