The Toyota Camry is currently the best-selling sedan in America, followed by its smaller Corolla sibling. The current generation has been around since 2017, and it has held up well in terms of exterior styling, but the new Honda Accord is more modern and svelte. While Toyota could do a total redesign, most of its attention is focused on its SUV and truck redesigns, which have been long overdue, especially the 4Runner. The car you see here is the heavily refreshed 2025 Toyota Camry. While it looks great inside and out, the biggest news is the move to a fully hybrid powertrain on all models, similar to the current Sienna minivan.

That's right. Every 2025 Camry is a hybrid. The system is fifth-generation hybrid system Toyota showcased in the new Prius, but the new Camry gets a bigger 2.5-liter inline-four. Power comes in at 225 horsepower with front-wheel drive and 232 horses with all-wheel drive. The system has been updated for a smoother and quieter driving experience for its biggest sedan.  gain is that the system is smoother, quieter and just makes for better driving. For those who loved the 301-hp Camry V6, that engine is, sadly, no more after 2024.

Fuel economy is seriously impressive at 51 miles per gallon combined for the base LE (largely thanks to the low-rolling-resistance tires). The rest of the lineup gets a still solid 47 mpg combined, and all-wheel drive models lose 1 mpg combined. The sportier XSE gets a mere 44 mpg combined, probably due to weight and additional exterior trim, but it's still significantly better than most vehicles out there.

The Exterior Styling

camry front

Nothing's wrong with the current Camry styling, but it no longer turns heads the way a more updated Honda Accord does (okay, so the Camry still outsells the Accord by a hefty margin). The Camry is still built on the TNGA platform, and it mostly looks the same from the side view, despite a small three-quarter rear update with a more upswept tail section. The overall stance remains sporty, and the look is more cohesive and refined.

camry headlights

What's most notable are the headlights that mimic the new Prius's. The nose no longer looks pinched, and the headlights, upper thin grille, and the DLRs are now fully integrated across the width. The quad beam headlights are set just outside of the amber DRLs. The lower grille is much bigger and flanked by thinner intakes. The hood creases are now set wider, and the outer creases meet up with the inside edge of the DRLs.

The back end echoes the look of the front end with C-shaped taillights that integrate the turn signals, brake lights, and backup lights. As with the last Camry, there's a nice ducktail spoiler protruding from the trunk's decklid. We love the twin tailpipes protruding from the left side of the car. We're happy Toyota didn't tuck it out of sight like so many cars these days, even if it is a hybrid.

The New Interior

Despite the fact that the 2025 Camry is a refresh, Toyota did a great job of updating the interior using the same dimensions, making room for the standard 8- or upgraded 12.3-inch touchscreen embedded in the top of the dash. The weird S-shaped trim in the center stack is gone, but the physical buttons and knobs are present, laid out in an excellent linear fashion with horizontal trim strakes coming off the frame of the infotainment touchscreen.

Climate control knobs are replaced by a line of switches that should be pretty easy to use. In terms of infotainment, the new operating system/interface still has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the former now has an easier return to the Toyota interface. Every trim level also comes with wireless charging. Toyota also gave the new Camry a long tray next to that charger. so your front passenger can place it there instead of in the cupholder. Finally. We also love the fact that Toyota kept the traditional shift knob instead of some stupid rotary or pushbutton version. It may take up more space, but a traditional shift knob is easier to use quickly, and it's more intuitive. The drive mode buttons are placed logically just behind it, as is the electronic parking brake.

New trim materials include black or bright red SofTex faux leather in the XSE, a fancy quilted microfiber in the XLE, a textured pinstriped fabric in the SE, and gray cloth in the LE. These materials show up in the armrest, door trim, and even on the dash. It's a fresh approach to interior trim that's not piano black plastic, faux carbon fiber, or other such materials that have become pervasive in the industry.

In terms of pricing for the 2025 Camry it has unsurprisingly increased. The base price is $29,495, including the $1,095 destination charge, up from $27,515. The flipside is that the 2025 Camry is hybrid only, which means that it's actually cheaper than the old hybrid. Overall, the new Camry should be an upgrade from the last one in terms of styling, efficiency, and tech. We'll show you more once we get to drive it later this year.
